This is an oppotunity for me to tell you a bit about myself, I guess, which may help you as you read my blog.

Why Firebrand?

Jesus Himself was the ultimate Firebrand and eventually paid the ultimate price for the cause for which He came and lived. (John 3:16).

What is a firebrand exactly? Definitions include ’flaming or smoldering materials that could start other fires’; ‘sources of heat capable of igniting wildland fuels’; ‘flaming or glowing fuel particles’; ‘argumentative troublemaker or revolutionary; one who agitates against the current situation.

It is easy to see, with this in mind, why Jesus Christ would be crucified. Firebrands carry a message and create change. Firebrands are purpose-driven and, in this case, God-centred.

My number one passion in life is loving Jesus, knowing Him, worshipping Him and helping others to do the same. The thing is, the extravegant life of worship that God desires us all to lead is actually life in its fullness, not just twenty-something minutes of praise and worship at church on Sundays.

God desires that our lives at work, at home, in the office, and on the football pitch, wherever, are glorifying to Him…God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him, says John Piper.

I live and work in Bradford, North England, and am planted here in The Abundant Life Church, which is awesome. As a church we are committed to reaching our community, the nation and the wider world with the phenomenal news about Jesus. We do this in a powerful and relevant way through music http://www.abundantlifeworship.co.uk/, media, practical expressions of outreach (http://www.alm.org.uk/loveyourcity/) and by all means possible.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All for now.

Love

Nick

  3. Nick, you commented on my blog a while back, and I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to make it over to yours! But I was wondering, what is your role in worship leadership at your church? Band, vocals, pastor? Also, are you on Twitter? I have met so many wonderful people in ministry thru Twitter, it’s been amazing to have a sense of community with other leaders. Hope you have a terrific week. God bless!
